Project purpose: Cultivating vibrant relationships in digital transformative communities.
Tent Activities:
Ecofo is a weekly dialogue where we practice relating to the Sacredness in one another. We believe this way of relating is the strongest possible foundation for any community.
Every dialogue lasts 90 minutes and involves four people. Each person suggests a question they’d like to explore, and then the group votes on their favorite for discussion.
Each group will stay together for four weeks, then those who wish to participate again will be reshuffled into new groups for another four weeks, and so on.
This practice has its own custom software (like Zoom).
Hello Tom
I’m really intrigued by both the relational and technological dimensions of Ecofo. The idea of engaging deeply with others around meaningful questions in a structured, sacred space feels both grounding and expansive. I’m especially looking forward to participating in the trial session and seeing how the custom software supports this kind of dialogue. Also, I spotted a few familiar souls in the intro video so good to see people from the field coming together in this way.
Hope we can manage the time zones… count me in!
Hi Naeema, I appreciate you taking the time to look into this, and it’s nice to know that you are familiar with some of the Emergent Commons people in the video (they are wonderful)!
I’m happy to hear that you’d like to try it. Once two more people chime in, I’ll send you a message so we can find a time. Looking forward to connecting – thank you!
@SilentShaun thank you for the time we shared today, I didn’t manage to save your email. Would you be able to send it to me here through a direct message, please?
There’s also a chance I’m tagging the wrong Shaun – sorry if that’s the case!
Hey @Tom , reading this I’d think that the Tent Activity is to do the 90 minute dialogue, when I believe that wasn’t the intent (or the actual case last Tuesday)
And is this the tent schedule? Or an Ecofo group structure?
My hope is that people arriving at this forum thread can figure out “when and for what” to come to the Ecofo Oasis Tent.
Hey @JamesBaker, the intention with this tent is to have people using Ecofo (90-minute dialogue). However, I imagined the Oasis meeting would be a place to check in outside the Ecofo sessions (perhaps after every series - 4 sessions).
From what I understood when reading through the instruction posts, the tents were something that could extend beyond the Oasis meeting into their own gathering? Let me know if this is wrong.
And is this the tent schedule? Or an Ecofo group structure?
This is the Ecofo group structure. Once I hear back about the above, I could rewrite the tent description to make that more clear.
Thanks, James. I enjoyed our soapbox the other day.
Yeah the tent description template is meant to refer to the Oasis tent. (Except for the project purpose, maybe that could be organized better still)
Do absolutely anything you like outside the Oasis structure as well, but this is like… When can people show up to the Oasis and expect to meet with Ecofo representatives?
It looks like it’s too late to edit my original post, so here’s an update…
For anyone who sees this post in the future:
If you’d like to participate in an Ecofo session with others from the Second Renaissance, comment on this thread, and I’ll help you get started.
If you want to ask me any questions or learn more about Ecofo before joining in, let me know, and I will set up the Ecofo tent at the next Oasis meeting, where we can chat
I can also drop by if anyone else would like to hear an update on how the Ecofo sessions are going. I’d love to attend more regularly, but it’s too early for me with the current time difference.
High Tom, Thanks for the above discussion. I see that the time zone differences especially for you in Oceania create some challenges and perhaps bridging requirements to assemble groups. Perhaps there is a strategy to bring either a asynchronous fluid liminal space of co-presencing or create time zone relational pods. In my experience with Collective Presencing groups, the Australian - New Zealand groups separated from the Americas- European group or lost interest after a while. My sense is that diurnal, seasonal, connection to land-earth based presence is still part of “significance/relevance” and somehow key to a threshold of embodiment in the individual who shows up to share across the web. For all global practitioners of any kind perhaps that aspect needs appreciation, care and craftsmanship.
When the time is right for convergence, I look forward to trying out the Ecofo experience.
Hi Keith, that’s a really interesting point about a threshold of embodiment being linked to land presence and time zones. That feels intuitively right to me.
Ecofo’s scheduling system creates sessions based on people’s stated availability, so there’s a good amount of flexibility at the group level when using Ecofo, and it allows for people in similar timezones to naturally cluster without cutting off the possibility for less common time overlaps around the world.
This, combined with asynchronous, feels like a solid approach.
Also, did you receive my email about a session next week? I attached a screenshot, so I have a feeling it might have gone to your spam box.
