Can 2R fix its broken relationship with the Truth?

And nice summary dvd here as well, which I think is a fair summary of what I’ve seen reflected in 2R’s ambitions, especially at last fall’s conference. Do you see this summary, which I’ve quoted from your statement, as reflective of the metamodern approach?

If so, I would argue its a more accurate statement of 2R’s approach to call it metamodern rather than postmodern.

Also to the new topic of aliens that was brought in recently, My 2 cents here is that whether or not aliens have ever visited earth, and whether or not humans themselves are aliens (the way humans are treating this planet tends to suggest they certainly have developed the attitude of bad aliens rather than good ones in relation to all the other terrestrial creatures!), solving this particular set of issues is not directly relevant to the most immediate challenges at hand for addressing our immediate meta-crisis issues in order to survive on this planet in a meaningful way as a human species in cooperative and regenerative relationship with all the other species.

So, again, one of the core skill-sets of a strong 2R framework will be to develop a form of sense-making and collective action movement building that will be able to clearly separate the core issues that ARE immediately relevant to 2R movement building, from those that are secondary and mostly distracting from the core work at hand.

I would humbly suggest that debates over alien visitation are secondary rather than primary to the work at hand for getting humanity to cooperate on organizing planetary governance around an ecological and social justice agenda. This is no doubt why the current US admin decided to release the UFO files, as just another distraction from core ethical governance issues for salvaging any aspect of the US constitutional governance system.

The framework I am proposing…which resolves the crisis in cosmology…is a quantum version of Whitehead’s basic model. I am literally saying that we have two incompatible models of the physical world (quantum and classical-relativistic), and that these correspond closely to Whiteheads possibility and actuality. Literally, QM describes a world of unrealised possibility, and classical-relativistic physics describes a world of realised actuality. Physicists and cosmologists have spent decades trying to force these worlds together into a single, continuous model of reality, and it cannot be done. The only way to fix it is to accept that there are two “phases” (call them whatever you like) of reality, and that consciousness/will is the process that selects actuality from possibility. Not only does this offer a route to fixing cosmology and finally killing off physicalism, but it will allow us to reground realism, which is essential if we’re to stand any chance of ending the meaning crisis and agreeing sufficiently about what the real problems are to stand any chance of moving towards real solutions. This the whole point in the New Epistemic Deal, which this forum is currently discussing one principle at a time:

1: Ecocivilisation is our shared destiny and guiding goal.

2: Consciousness is real.

3: Epistemic structural realism is true.

4: Both materialism and physicalism should be rejected.

5: The existence of praeternatural phenomena is consistent with science and reason, but apart from the cases of psychegenesis and free will, there is no scientific or rational justification for believing in it/them either. The only possible justification for belief is subjective lived experience.

6: We cannot expect people to believe things ( any things) based solely on other people’s subjective lived experiences. There will always be skeptics about any alleged praeternatural phenomena and their right to skepticism must be respected.

7: There can be no morality if we deny reality.

8: Science, including ecology, must take epistemic privilege over economics, politics and everything else that purports to be about objective reality.

This is not dogma-enforcement. It is a proposed agreement to take realism seriously, and anything weaker is not going to be enough. The free-for-all with respect to truth must end, at least to this extent.

You are contradicting yourself. You are trying to say the system must be open to correction, but you are also denying the possibility of reaching an actual correct answer for the basic core of the system. You are still trying to impose postmodern anti-realism, but dressing it up as “open-ness to correction”. The truth is you are not willing to accept a “correct answer” for any of it. Everything is merely provisional. This is bad old postmodern relativism, not a viable foundation for a post-postmodern correction.

This is not going to work. There must be an open-ness to arriving at a correct answer, and it cannot be rejected simply because it is mainly the work of one person. A very large number of the most important human advances were mainly the work of one person. You are just using this as yet another excuse for defending postmodern anti-realism.

At what point are you ever willing to accept an answer as correct?

Also, why are you saying “handed down”? This is an attempt to mis-represent 2PC as a papal declaration. I am not “handing down” anything at all. I am asking people to understand why it must be true, not just declaring that it is true. And you’ve responded by trying as hard as possible to not understand it.

Junk. Popper got lots of things wrong. Lakatos and Kuhn were much closer to the truth.

This overlapping mapping of Metamodernism and 2PC makes good sense to focus on the core issues, and again underlines why a collective action focus is key to the next step, as I’ve been arguing all along. So Geoff, if 2R is not interested in getting serious about developing a strong collective action framework for a sense-making movement project focused on the shared goal with which your post concludes, then perhaps we need to find another one for pursuing this shared goal, which certainly is a major “reconstructive project” that requires building a planetary movement for ecocivilization. I’m simultaneously exploring the John Cobb ecocivilization project as another potential site for this work of movement building. But not sure they have realized collective action is the core centering piece for this work either.

Is there a forum? Or any other means of debate?

I googled them and found this: About Us | Ecocivilization Coalition

I don’t know much about them, though I know who Nafeez Ahmed is.

EDIT: that site looks like a place-holder. None of the details are there. I presume it is very new.

Skipping a few rounds of AI queries to get to something potentially useful, this:

"Summary of Lakatos’s Lesson on Epicycles

For Lakatos, “epicycles” became a metaphor for any intellectual system’s defense mechanism.

He showed that when a theory faces conflicting evidence, its proponents will always build mathematical or conceptual epicycles to protect it. Lakatos’s warning to modern science is that we cannot judge a theory simply because it relies on these protective loops; we must judge whether those loops are helping us discover new pieces of reality or are simply **shielding a dying paradigm from the truth."
**
My question to you is, if your program is as scientific as you claim it is, what new pieces of reality is it helping us discover? What is the research program? What questions remain unsettled?

The ecociv project that John Cobb initiated has been around for about a decade, beginning around 2015 if I remember correctly. But big gap is that they have not yet created any kind of discussion forum like 2R, which is where at least 2R shows commitment to the project of dialogue these issues, which Ecociv has not. And although they’ve already got an international distributed network of organizations and thinkers associated with the project and the Ecociv Institute, it still seems like a fairly closed-off affair of this group, not very open to public visibility, so that’s the big current limitation there. My thought is that we can use the developing opening around Lent’s new book to push for this kind of opening, if they’re truly serious about building a movement for change. So far, it seems pretty insular and closed-off to public dialogue, at least on the platform level. Certainly a question that needs to be posed to them.

Main website I have been exploring for them: https://www.ecociv.org/about-5

When it survives serious falsification better than its rivals. In scientific domains, “correct” doesn’t mean “immune to revision”; it means “the most justified belief currently available.” Calling that postmodern relativism confuses fallibilism with relativism.

2PC itself is strictly metaphysics, not science. I am replacing physicalism with a new kind of netural monism, which also involves invalidating any science which strictly depends on physicalism (or classical continuity). What I do not do is any of the new science.

In terms of future research programs, the answer comes in three parts, corresponding to the three chapters in Part 2 of the book.

Chapter 5: The epicycles of ΛCDM

The word “epicycles” is a reference to Lakatos, and the current state of cosmology is the most severe example of a breakdown of a dominant research program in the entire history of science. ΛCDM must basically be discarded wholesale, and then cosmologists will need to start from the new metaphysical foundation and see what they can salvage from it. It will be a new golden age for cosmology. Cosmologists already sense this is coming, even though they have no clue that the new paradigm involves the ending of physicalism.

Chapter 6: The unfinished quantum revolution

With QM there would be not much difference to science, because the arguments are already all about metaphysics. Right from as early as 1932 it was possible to separate the two (von Neumann did this), and so the scientists could just say “shut up and calculate”. So in this area the main effect is to finally solve the Measurement Problem (i.e. finally agree what the correct metaphysical interpretation of QM is). The main consequences of this will be felt by philosophy rather than science. It is extremely important for projects like 2R, because it opens the door to a foundational integration of science and spirituality, but it will make very little difference to the practice of science. Chapter 6 is the history of quantum metaphysics, not a list of (apparently) empirical problems.

Chapter 7: The missing science of consciousness

There currently isn’t a dominant paradigm in the case of consciousness. There are only a large number of competing attempts to define what consciousness is and how it relates to the physical world. None of these attempts are correct enough to base a research program on. So in this case, there would be a brand new branch of science. Not neuroscience, not cognitive science but a science of consciousness. Again, this is potentially a new golden age.

Then what are your grounds for rejecting 2PC, given that the existing model of cosmology has already been falsified, while 2PC is entirely consistent with all empirical data?

You are claiming that falsification is the gold standard, but completely ignoring the fact that the standard model of cosmology is empirically inadequate. What is the point in saying that falsification is the crucial test if you aren’t willing to admit it when a dominant paradigm has actually been falsified?

That is incorrect. There are countless examples of scientific claims which will never be revised, not because they are “immune to revision”, but because they are true. The claim that water is made of hydrogen will never be revised. Neither will the claim that the Earth orbits the Sun or that climate change is primarily caused by human activity. Neither will common descent and natural selection in evolutiuon, and neither will the scientific core of quantum mechanics. The reason that cannot be wrong is that they are so tightly integrated with everything else science has told us about the structure of objective reality that it is impossible to change them without the entire structure collapsing. So they cannot be wrong unless the whole of science is wrong. What 2PC does is complete that integration project at the level of metaphysics, thereby grounding the whole of science, rather than just leaving it hanging in the air because it is constructed on a rotten foundation.

You are still defending postmodern anti-realism and relativism, and continually trying to dress it up as good philosophy of science. It is nothing of the sort.

Where are you getting the idea that I am a defender of the standard model of cosmology?

I’m not willing to admit what now? Can you quote my actual posts so I know what you’re attributing to me?

You just said that falsification is the criteria that matters. LambdaCDM has been falsified, and no physicalist replacement is available. 2PC is providing a new metaphysical foundation, which resolves all of the problems. So the options currently on the table are:

(1) LCDM + physicalism. This has been falsified.
(2) 2PC + neutral monsim. This has not been falsified.

How do you justify rejecting 2PC if the criteria that matters is non-falsification?

LCDM only remains dominant only because nobody has proposed a coherent alternative. 2PC is that coherent alternative, and all you are interested in doing is finding justifications for rejecting it.

You aren’t defending standard cosmology. You are defending anti-realism and relativism. You want to reject standard cosmology and retain only the infinite menu of inadequate worldviews (including your own, which I presume is idealism or panpsychism).

False claims:

  1. “You said non-falsification is the criterion that matters.”
False. I said surviving serious falsification better than rivals matters. That is not the same as saying “anything not falsified should be accepted.”

  2. “The options are ΛCDM + physicalism or 2PC + neutral monism.”
False dilemma. I am not a physicalist, and 2PC is not the only non-physicalist alternative.

  3. “No physicalist replacement is available.”
False or at least badly overstated. There are physicalist alternatives and extensions under active discussion, even if none has become the accepted replacement.

  4. “You are defending anti-realism and relativism.”
False. I have explicitly affirmed objective truth and a real territory. I am defending fallibilism, not relativism.

  5. “All you are interested in doing is finding justifications for rejecting 2PC.”
False and mind-reading. Questioning whether a theory has earned its claims is not the same as looking for excuses to reject it.

Misleading claims:

  1. “ΛCDM has been falsified.”
Misleading. ΛCDM has serious tensions and may be incomplete or wrong in important ways. But “has unresolved problems” is not the same as “has been decisively falsified.”

  2. “2PC has not been falsified.”
Technically possible, but misleading. A theory can be unfalsified because it is strong, or because it is too vague, flexible, metaphysical, or insulated from risky tests.

  3. “2PC resolves all of the problems.”
Misleading. 2PC claims to resolve them, but many of those “resolutions” are metaphysical reframings rather than demonstrated empirical or mathematical solutions.

  4. “ΛCDM remains dominant only because nobody has proposed a coherent alternative.”
Misleading. ΛCDM remains dominant partly because no alternative has displaced it, but also because it still fits a large body of data extremely well.

Invalid inferences:

  1. ΛCDM has problems → therefore 2PC is correct.
Invalid. A failed or incomplete dominant model does not automatically validate one preferred replacement.

  2. 2PC has not been falsified → therefore 2PC should be accepted.
    Invalid. Non-falsification is not confirmation.

  3. Rejecting 2PC → defending physicalism.
Invalid. One can reject physicalism and still think 2PC has not earned acceptance.

  4. Fallibilism → postmodern relativism.
Invalid. Fallibilism says truth exists but our models remain corrigible. Relativism denies objective standards of truth. Those are not the same.

And just in case you didn’t read it…

The last time we were discussing this, you agreed to do a full analysis of 2PC. You never posted that full analysis, but you did post an AI-generated comparison of 2PC to its supposed rivals. This AI analysis rejected the entire solution to the crisis in cosmology on the spurious grounds that it “would not be recognised as a solution by working scientists”. This is despite the fact that I had already explained in detail to you that working scientists would not recognise this solution because it modifies the metaphysics – it rejects physicalism. I then did another analysis, asking to what extent it resolves the crisis in a way that would not be recognised by working scientists, and it gave a very different response: Can 2R fix its broken relationship with the Truth? - Research and Sense-Making - Second Renaissance Forum

Also, please bear in mind what I have already said about bad faith communication. That means you need to read that analysis, and actually try to understand it. You will also need to read the response to the follow-up question, which is about how 2PC is related to Jason Storm’s version of metamodernism.

Oh yes it is. Kastrup’s idealism doesn’t even attempt to resolve the crisis in cosmology, and neither does any other model currently being offered.

The only way you could find to defend the above claim was to post a misleading AI comparison of 2PC to “rival theories”, and then ignore the legitimate analysis (the one which was willing to accept a non-physicalist solution to the crisis in cosmology). See previous post.

I ask yet again: please stop the relentless bad faith communication.

First I note that you are using AI to generate direct responses, instead of thinking for yourself.

It does if there is only one non-falsified option available.

  1. “The options are ΛCDM + physicalism or 2PC + neutral monism.”
False dilemma. I am not a physicalist, and 2PC is not the only non-physicalist alternative.

What other alternative even attempts to resolve the crisis in cosmology?

  1. “No physicalist replacement is available.”
False or at least badly overstated. There are physicalist alternatives and extensions under active discussion, even if none has become the accepted replacement.

Oh no there aren’t. There are all kinds of vague proposals, but nothing even remotely close to a completed theory which resolves 20 specific problems with 20 specific answers.

  1. “You are defending anti-realism and relativism.”
False. I have explicitly affirmed objective truth and a real territory. I am defending fallibilism, not relativism.

BS. Name one single “affirmed objective truth”, and your criteria for accepting it as such.

  1. “All you are interested in doing is finding justifications for rejecting 2PC.”
False and mind-reading. Questioning whether a theory has earned its claims is not the same as looking for excuses to reject it.

You have made no attempt to understand 2PC. You have literally done nothing else but attempt to find ways to reject it, and all of these are either “meta-objections” rather than direction objections to the theory itself, or absurd arguments such as claiming that aliens were detected in the 1950s.

  1. ΛCDM has problems → therefore 2PC is correct.
Invalid. A failed or incomplete dominant model does not automatically validate one preferred replacement.

IT DOES IF THERE IS ONLY ONE OPTION ON THE TABLE.

  1. 2PC has not been falsified → therefore 2PC should be accepted.

Yes. If there is only one option on the table, it should be accepted.

  1. Rejecting 2PC → defending physicalism.
Invalid. One can reject physicalism and still think 2PC has not earned acceptance.

You haven’t given a legitimate reason for rejecting 2PC. Your entire argument depends on the false claim that there are alternative proposals for resolving the mega-crisis in cosmology. No such alternatives exist. How do you think idealism or panpsychism can resolve the Hubble Tension, the cosmological constant problem or the Fermi paradox, explain why we can’t quantise gravity, or tell us anything about the identity of dark matter? 2PC provides an integrated solution to 20 different problems in cosmology. What else does?

More bad faith communication. You are continually conflating “not to be questioned / to be enforced as dogma” and “will never be overturned, because it is too well understood and integrated with the rest of scientific knowledge”.

Why do I have to keep repeating this? Why do you keep making the same fallacious claim, while ignoring my response to it?

Geoff, I’m going to be blunt, because the pattern here has become impossible to ignore.

You are not defending “Truth” against postmodern relativism. You are trying to launder your preferred metaphysical system into the category of settled truth, and then treating anyone who refuses that move as dishonest, anti-realist, relativist, or too stupid to understand you.

That is not truth-seeking. That is epistemic coercion dressed up as realism.

You keep saying “there is only one option on the table.” No, there is only one option on your table, because you keep dismissing every other table as either irrelevant, vague, old-paradigm, physicalist, postmodern, or bad faith.

That is not how inquiry works.

A dominant model having serious unresolved problems does not make your model true. ΛCDM can be incomplete, strained, or even eventually replaced without 2PC automatically inheriting the throne. “The reigning model has problems” is not evidence for “my metaphysical reconstruction is correct.” It only opens the space for alternatives. It does not coronate yours.

You keep trying to reduce the choices to:

  1. ΛCDM + physicalism
  2. 2PC + neutral monism

That is a false dilemma. I am not defending physicalism. I have repeatedly said I am not a physicalist. I have repeatedly affirmed objective reality. I have repeatedly distinguished fallibilism from relativism. You just keep ignoring that because your argument depends on pretending that skepticism toward 2PC is secretly allegiance to the old paradigm.

It isn’t.

Rejecting physicalism does not obligate me to accept 2PC. Rejecting materialism does not obligate me to accept your cosmology. Accepting consciousness as real does not obligate me to accept your collapse mechanism. Accepting that science has metaphysical limits does not obligate me to accept every metaphysical proposal that claims to resolve them.

That distinction should be obvious.

You also keep saying that because 2PC has not been falsified, it should be accepted if it is the only option on the table. This is exactly backwards. A theory can remain unfalsified because it is powerful, or because it is too elastic, too metaphysical, too underspecified, or too insulated from risky tests. Non-falsification is not confirmation. “Not yet disproven” is not the same as “therefore true.”

And when the “option on the table” is a metaphysical framework that reinterprets physics, cosmology, consciousness, quantum foundations, dark matter, the Fermi paradox, abiogenesis, and spirituality all at once, the evidentiary burden is enormous. You do not get to lower that burden by declaring yourself the only contender.

That is especially true because you repeatedly describe 2PC as metaphysics rather than science when challenged by scientific standards, but then you describe it as resolving scientific problems when claiming its importance. You cannot have it both ways. If 2PC is metaphysics, then it does not “solve” the Hubble tension, dark matter, the cosmological constant problem, quantum gravity, or the Fermi paradox in the same sense a scientific theory would solve them. It offers a metaphysical reframing of those problems. That may be interesting. It may even be profound. But it is not the same thing as a demonstrated solution.

You accuse me of making “meta-objections” instead of engaging the theory. But this is absurd. The status of the theory is the issue. Whether 2PC is science, metaphysics, ontology, explanatory poetry, speculative synthesis, or a testable research programme is not a side issue. It is central. You cannot demand scientific authority for metaphysical moves while exempting those moves from scientific standards whenever the pressure rises.

That is not integration. That is selective jurisdiction.

You asked me to name one objective truth I affirm and my criteria for accepting it.

Fine.

Conscious experience exists.

Criteria: direct first-person givenness, performative undeniability, and the impossibility of coherently doubting experience without already being in experience.

Here is another:

There is a mind-independent constraint on our maps.

Criteria: failed prediction, surprise, resistance, intersubjective correction, technological reliability, empirical convergence, and the fact that our models can collide with something they did not invent.

Here is another:

Not all truth-claims have equal warrant.

Criteria: coherence, explanatory power, predictive success, empirical adequacy, logical consistency, scope, parsimony, resistance to counterexample, and survival under serious criticism.

None of this is relativism. None of it is anti-realism. It is fallibilist realism. Truth exists; our models are corrigible. The territory is real; our maps remain revisable. That is not postmodernism. That is basic intellectual hygiene.

Your repeated attempt to collapse fallibilism into relativism is either a serious misunderstanding or a convenient rhetorical weapon. Either way, it is wrong.

You also say I am conflating “will never be overturned because well integrated” with “must be enforced as dogma.” No. I am pointing out that you are using the language of integration to create premature closure. Some scientific claims are so deeply integrated that they are practically unrevisable, yes. But 2PC is not in that category. You do not get to place your own speculative metaphysical synthesis beside “water contains hydrogen” or “the Earth orbits the Sun” simply because you believe it integrates many things. Integration is not the same as truth. A myth can integrate. A theology can integrate. A conspiracy theory can integrate. The question is whether the integration is disciplined by reality in ways that could actually force revision.

And that brings us to the real problem: you keep demanding that others do the “internal work” of having their maps corrected, but you show very little evidence that 2PC itself can be corrected by anything other than your own judgment.

When someone raises the Fermi paradox, you say they are arguing in bad faith.
When someone asks about mainstream standards, you say they are arguing in bad faith.
When someone points out the difference between metaphysical reframing and scientific solution, you say they don’t understand.
When someone uses AI to analyze your argument, the AI is misleading unless it agrees with your framing.
When someone questions whether your model has earned acceptance, they are looking for excuses to reject it.
When someone affirms objective truth but refuses your formulation of it, they are secretly a relativist.

That is not open inquiry. That is a closed loop.

On AI: yes, I use AI. So do you. You have openly said you used multiple LLMs for months to stress-test 2PC. You have posted AI outputs when they support your framing. You have used AI as a legitimating witness when it says 2PC is coherent or interesting. But when I use AI to structure objections, suddenly the problem is that I am not thinking for myself.

That standard is transparently self-serving.

The issue is not whether AI was involved. The issue is whether the argument is valid. If a point is false, show why it is false. If an inference is invalid, identify the invalid inference. If a premise is wrong, challenge the premise. “You used AI” is not a rebuttal. It is a dodge.

And frankly, the accusation that I have made “no attempt to understand 2PC” is nonsense. I have engaged your claims across multiple threads: truth, praeternatural phenomena, cosmology, AI analysis, the Fermi paradox, parapsychology, free will, and epistemic standards. What you mean is not that I have failed to understand you. What you mean is that I have failed to agree with you.

Those are not the same thing.

Your own New Epistemic Deal says we cannot expect people to believe things based solely on other people’s subjective lived experience, and that skeptics’ right to skepticism must be respected. Good. I agree. But then you repeatedly treat skepticism toward your framework as bad faith. You cannot have Principle 6 in theory and then pathologize skepticism in practice.

That contradiction is doing a lot of damage here.

You say 2PC provides an integrated solution to twenty problems. Maybe it provides an integrated interpretation. Maybe it generates a powerful metaphysical gestalt. Maybe it is worth serious discussion. But you have not shown that it has earned the status you are claiming for it. You have asserted that status, defended that assertion aggressively, and then accused others of bad faith for not granting it.

That is exactly the behavior people are reacting to.

You keep asking why you have to repeat yourself. Here is the answer: because repetition is not argument. You keep repeating “only one option,” “bad faith,” “postmodern relativism,” “you don’t understand,” “2PC resolves it,” and “there are no alternatives.” But saying these things over and over does not make them true.

You want a collective search for truth? Then accept the conditions of one:

Your theory does not get immunity from skepticism.
Your metaphysical reframing does not get to masquerade as demonstrated scientific solution.
Your personal certainty does not bind the rest of us.
Your frustration does not establish bad faith in your interlocutors.
Your model being coherent does not make it true.
Your model being ambitious does not make it the only option.
Your rejection of physicalism does not entitle you to define the post-physicalist future for everyone else.

I am not asking you to stop proposing 2PC. I am asking you to stop treating refusal to accept it as a moral, intellectual, or epistemic defect.

Because that is the authoritarian move here. Not objective truth. Not realism. Not science. The authoritarian move is declaring that the search is open right up until someone refuses your answer, at which point they become a relativist, a bad-faith actor, or an obstacle to the Second Renaissance.

That is not how a renaissance begins. That is how a doctrine protects itself.

So yes, I affirm truth. I affirm reality. I affirm that some claims are better warranted than others. I affirm that science has epistemic privilege where objective reality is concerned. I affirm that materialism and physicalism have serious problems. I affirm that consciousness is not explained away by reductionist hand-waving.

But I do not affirm that 2PC has earned the status you are demanding for it.

And until you can distinguish that refusal from relativism, you are not defending truth. You are confusing truth with compliance.

I am not interested in having a debate with your AI. If you are willing to re-write it yourself, so I can be sure you’ve actually read and understood your own post, then I will respond.

Use of AI to produce summaries, analyses and reports, or to answer neutral questions (i.e. not the other person’s questions) is OK. Using it to produce replies in a debate like this is not OK. Do you think I am using AI to answer your questions?

The AI output doesn’t even attempt to respond to the basic point I have just made repeatedly. You are claiming there are alternatives to 2PC for resolving the crisis in cosmology, and your whole position now rests on this claim. No such alternatives exist. If they did, then your AI would have listed them.

So yes, I affirm truth. I affirm reality.

Name one scientific truth of which we can be 100% certain, and your criteria for accepting that in that specific case.

Your model being ambitious does not make it the only option.

Of course it doesn’t. What makes it the only option is the fact that there aren’t any others. Did you even bother to read this AI drivel before you cut-n-pasted it? How does idealism resolve the Hubble Tension? Do you understand why/how 2PC resolves the Hubble Tension but idealism and panpsychism do not? No, because you have made zero effort to understand 2PC. The answer is not that complicated. Are you even interested in that answer? No, because you are an idealist/panpsychist, and understanding it would risk you having to rethink your belief system, which you are simply not prepared to do.

Anyone can use AI to respond on their behalf in a discussion like this, and if both people do it then the result is unreadable, worthless nonsense. The AI just produces the best defence it can, even if it is completely stupid. Meanwhile the people themselves have stopped thinking.

You are not interested in understanding 2PC, and not interested in genuine debate. You are using AI so you can continue to believe that you’ve defended your position, even though you’ve given up even trying to defend it yourself and started using a machine to generate responses instead.
