Forum Moderation Log

This thread will contain a record of moderation actions taken on this forum, including any account suspensions and any content removals (other than obvious spam).

As a forum administrator team we feel that a community-visible log will be a useful artifact for seeing, communicating, and holding the boundaries we’re tending around this space. Please respect that community boundary by not re-sharing content from this thread outside this forum.

Special request re replies: The intention of this “Log” thread is to provide an easy-to-scan historical record. With that in mind, let’s use “Reply as linked topic” to fork off discussions of any particular moderation action to their own thread(s). (How to: After clicking a “Reply” button, there’s a “type of reply” button in the top-left of the posting panel that reveals three types of replies, where ‘Reply as linked topic’ is one of them.)

Moderation decision of the admin team

In light of repeated behavior violating forum rules, repeated doubling-down and blame-shifting in conflict, and an overall closed stance not indicating any visible possibility of near-term perspective-taking progress, the admin team has decided to impose a long-term suspension of GeoffDann from the forum. Term of suspension is set at 1 year for default expiration. (If any admin wants to engage with a petition or re-evaluation before that time, they may.)

We declare again our stance that we have no ideological beef with any of GeoffDann’s beliefs, and we wish him well in his path elsewhere on the internet and in life. In particular, we invite him to email us a post celebrating the publication/availability of his book, which we’d be happy to post on this forum on his behalf. (And which could include an invitation to anyone interested in connection and/or book study hosted by GeoffDann outside the forum.) We’re also ready and willing to delete any book quotes GeoffDan wants deleted.

Full moderation review (more comprehensive than future expectations, as this is our first time holding tested boundaries as a team together) with supporting and dissenting opinions is in this linked document.

As someone who walks near the edges of this space, watching, listening, and caring deeply for what is unfolding here, I feel called to offer a small reflection in the spirit of openness and generative inquiry.

The moderation decisions, while made with care and clarity, have stirred wider ripples, and perhaps invite us into a quiet moment of self-awareness, not of correction, but of deepening.

What we are building here is rare. A place where visionaries, skeptics, mystics, and system-thinkers converge to name and shape what might come next. This is courageous work, and it often brings intensity. Not just in ideas, but in the ways we carry them through passion, urgency, and sometimes sharpness.

In any living ecosystem, some energies test the boundaries. This is not always a problem. Sometimes it is the soul of emergence itself revealing where the container is supple and where it might need to stretch or strengthen.

From my view at the periphery, it feels important that we continue tending not just to what we say no to, but also to what we might yet say yes to: ways of holding complexity, intensity, and rupture without losing coherence or care. Not by lowering boundaries, but by refining how we meet those edges with clarity and compassion in equal measure.

These are delicate, foundational questions. I don’t pretend to know the answers. I only offer this as an invitation to ongoing reflection as we co-create something that, at its best, might truly hold the breadth and depth this moment in history is calling for.

With gratitude for the unseen labor of those stewarding this space…

and with care for all who show up here with courage…
