Hi everyone,
I wanted to introduce myself here, though I’ve been in Life Itself/metamodern circles for a while now. I’m at the beginning stage of forming “The Wayfinders Project” (working title) that explores integrative pathways toward a flourishing future for all, highlighting individuals, communities, and culture from around the world, and sharing through Substack, books, videos, podcasts, the Life Itself / 2R network, and other content, possibly a film. A major focus will be researching communities (developmental spaces) in different parts of the world and asking questions like, “What are the greatest challenges you are facing? What have you learned from addressing those challenges? What are some of the most helpful insights and lessons you have learned?” Part of the vision is to take a 2-3 month trip to Europe either this Fall 2026 or Spring 2027, and I’d love to visit the Bergerac Hub if possible (though I know there is no official residency this fall). In the first phase of the project, I’m considering focusing on communities in Europe, Canada and the US. But the long-term vision is to visit and learn from communities on every continent (but maybe not Antarctica). I’m gathering a list of communities from: Life Itself’s Archipelago Project; Coliven; Foundation for Intentional Community; The Global Ecovillage Network; Intentional Communities FB page; and more. Would love to hear if you have any particular communities or other community databases you would suggest I look into! I’m also doing this research to either find a community to join that I resonate with, or to help form a new one – possibly a Life Itself Hub in the US.
Along with metamodern resources, I’ve been studying the first Renaissance itself and the rise of modernity in its global (and not just European) scope. I’ve begun to outline a book on the Second Renaissance that seeks to be accessible to a wide audience.
My background includes comparative religious studies in college and seminary; community and movement building; teaching and philosophy of education; studying psychology and a current pursuit of coaching and/or counseling; philosophy; writing a metamodern fantasy series set in the world of Greek mythology; a love for nature and connecting with other cultures. Currently living in northern California.
Excited to dive into this forum and connect!
Cheers,
Michael
