Intro Post- Tent Keeping-:OLA

Hey everyone, I’m Ola! I’ve been involved with the Life Itself research group and I am a member of the Intentional Society. Now, I’ve also joined the Second Renaissance curator team :hugs:, where I’m helping to keep our Oasis tents organized and connected. I’ll be tracking who’s joining us and when, making sure we’re all ready for a full house!

I’ll also be supporting the tent stewards to ensure everything runs smoothly. This includes managing the subcategories within the Oasis forum section, keeping everyone informed about what’s happening there, as well as the schedule of when different tents will be active and hosted.

So, whether you’re looking for information related to Oasis, want to know how to propose a tent, need to find out if a tent is taking a break or closing up shop, or have any other tent-related questions, feel free to ask!

Hi Ola. As new member, but who attended the 2R conference last fall, and just recently attended the 4 week Intro 2R course with Rufus and Sylvia, I’m interested in proposing a tent to focus on the Collective Action discussion Rufus began to survey last September. I’ve also mentioned this to him, as potential co-host of the tent with him, if he’s interested. In any case, let me know what next step would be for setting up such a tent if there would be interest among the 2R community. Cheers,

I’m interested in doing a course on collective action or doing a tent.

@quantum.ethos someone made the oasis tents category private as are not running the Oasis actively for now. I’ve made it public again for now. I would suggest that you propose this in the Research and Sensemaking category as its own post about doing a series of sessions on this.

If you want i can even auto-move your response there as a new thread.

Hi Rufus, thank you. It looked like Jonah may already have done this yesterday? He made it visible, in any case. Please feel free to re-situate as needed to suit the needs of your re-organization away from the “tents” to whatever structure you have currently moved to.

Though my question related to that change for this Forum would be: It seemed like the “Tents” structure allowed for the simultaneous organization of different topic discussion groups. Has the move to the “subcircle” structure eliminated this option, so that only one “subcircle” discussion will be hosted by the Forum at any particular time? If so, this may be limiting to the future development of this Forum’s ongoing work.

Thank you, and I’m partnering with Robert Bunge to initiate new discussion subcircle around the “Collective Action” topic and would invite your collaboration in that effort as well, if you are interested. Cheers,

Shawn

IMO, the subcircle structure is pretty new (we have done one for a grand total of 2 sessions so far!) and open to modification as needed.

My suggestion is that anyone who can draw interest for some topic or another should be free to set up a subcircle. The only limiting factor would be technical resources like channels under the management of the formal 2R organization. We would need a resource allocation and approval process for that. But if someone just wants to schedule a subcircle meeting on personal channels like Zoom or Google and just announce it here, I don’t see why that would be a problem.
