Would be nice to enable social login for this forum.
What do people think?
Instructions here:
Needs an admin and a Life Itself admin to set up the stuff in google console.

Probably, but I never ever use it myself?
My reason is “because I use a password manager and want to avoid putting all my digital keys in the hands of a single company that might randomly turn off my account” but the question that I have for people that do use social login is…
How do you remember where you’ve used which kind of login? Do you have to remember that meta-fact on a per-site basis? Or does it only work for you if you use a simple rule set like “whenever (my preferred) 3rd party login is available, I use it, and if that doesn’t work then I try my usual default password and if that doesn’t work then I just reset my password?”
Because yeah while my personal simple rule is “I just never ever use it” I suppose there might be some “I always use it” folks out there. Would it confuse anyone to add social login? Maybe a bit, but no more than we all put up with everywhere else already.
My simple rule is 1) do I just need to login for some reason, 2) is this site trivial in my grander scheme of things, i.e. not worth the bother of its own password, and 3) does it just work (without a lot of two-factor ceremony, etc.). Then, yes, I’ll login with one of the socials.
FYI, I did take the trouble to make a unique password for 2R (that was the only option anyway), because it fails on point 2) above. If this was a cat meme site or something like that, social login would be fine.
