Just got back from a spiritual discussion meeting in my hometown. Topic: Healing Racism. Group composition, 20-30 about 50% people of color, about 75% of those black. The group is sponsored by a community of Baháʼí practitioners, although there is no religious test for participation. The speaking rules are “as the spirit moves”, so to speak. My shares are always some commentary on metatheory ('cause that’s what I do) and it all seems generally spot on with the universalistic values articulated in Baháʼí teachings. My share today drew on content I’ve posted multiple times in variety of liminal spaces. It was well received by the group.
I’d like to submit this is effectively an example of a 2R pocket. Of course, no one calls it that (because, among other things, I just joined 2R a week ago), but on substance I believe it is. The group is not just talk. There is plenty of social action in and around the group. The key question I am mulling over is, does this sort of group need its Baháʼí center to work? Or would some other spiritual tradition or practice model be equally effective?
Can you paint a picture of what a 2R pocket would look like without group self awareness of being that? In the OP @rufuspollock allowed different terminology, so the group might call itself something else. But can it be 2R short of some level of self-reflexive awareness of some sort change program generally consistent with 2R values?
