Wiki Homepage

[This is an example of a Wiki page to trial the concept of having a Wiki integrated into the forum. Note that the Wiki Category has been set up so that any new posts using that category are automatically ‘Wiki’ posts]

Here are a list of concepts central to Second Renaissance:

  • Second Renaissance
  • Metacrisis
  • Integral

[It is possible to set custom style for Wiki posts to help avoid confusion between normal posts and Wiki posts: Change the style of a wiki post - Developer Guides - Discourse Meta however this may require some work as I’m not sure if this works with our current ‘Minima’ theme. An alternative is simply to have guidelines that every Wiki posts should include the word ‘Wiki’ in the title, and use other features to distinguish it from regular posts. Having them all together in the Wiki category - which could be linked from the sidebar as the current Wiki is - would also keep them separate from other posts.]

To answer the first question first, it is clear that it is a so-called “wiki” post from the edit icon above right. But as I said in my contribution above, it still is missing the major functionality of a wiki. It’s just a post that is editable by anyone. That’s all, as far as I can see. And I don’t see a great lot of use for that functionality by itself.

But I can, it seems, link fairly easily using the link button at the top here… e.g. From Forum to Knowledgebase - can we integrate a forum and a wiki?

Or Forum/wiki discussion meeting for development of strategy in this area — essentially any forum thread: just start typing its name in the link dialogue.

This means that it is reasonable to have a “wiki post” for any topics of interest, to enable links to other related topics… but still, it’s not such a friendly UX.
