2025 a lot of things happened did you see what happened with predictive history? The youtube channel - predictive history - out of no where , its popularity rise was staggering. You could see how many many young people are craving for developmental spaces. Miguel told me how the YouTube videos created such mass of people interested in its stuff that the self organising discord community could not handle it. I think his discord had over 15000 users at peak times. Obviously he could not handle or delegate this wave of people. How could this been handled differently?
I think the guy creating it, running it has issues. But his general aim: create a meta reflective layer to history and try to steer as a society better towards certain goals while avoiding others is still interesting ( mildly influenced by asimov) . Also uncovering these deeper cyclical patterns in societies.

He recently was on a youtube podcast where he got 14 million views in 30 days.

I watched his first series - The story of Civilization, again it contains quite some bias from him but the style where he is asking questions to his students is intriguing. It somehow reminds me of the Peterson lectures: maps of meaning /personality and john vervaekes : awakening of the meaning crisis which did quite a bit of the ground work for lifeitself and other parts of the liminal web.

But really interesting -!- was the discord server of predictive history, there I found Miguel. He is running his own developmental space there, you can checkout some the topics of his learning sessions here:

Miguel really takes a reverse approach, while the videos on youtube are in a sense just one way media(excluding comments) - one video/person to many - miguel takes the time and does small group games to build up the capacities of the young people there.

It does not surprise me that people are looking for frameworks and narratives to make sense of current global chaos. I would also not necessarily assert that the channel in question has “failed”. It does not work for me, because with considerable effort, I’ve gathered frameworks and narratives that seem all-in-all more compelling to me at least). But for a lot of people, what is on offer in the “predictive history” channel might be a step in the direction of better understanding.

Yes exactly so. At the time I looked at the predictive history series together with charles blass: Charles Blass - Zürich, Switzerland | about.me
There are repeating patterns in his series and thinking , for example - elite overproduction. But the more interesting questions go like:
Could games have helped for people to self organise in a better way? What other ways could there have been to reflect on the Video series?
In a sense this has happend before with Jordan Peterson: Maps of Meaning/Personality and John Vervaekes - Awakening from the meaning crisis. People ARE looking for developmental spaces.

I am unfamiliar with the work of Charles Blass, but I would like to learn more about it.

On the question of “elite overproduction”, that is very much part of my current scheme of things. I have several works by Peter Turchin. It’s all very empirical and backed by a huge international historical database. It’s basically data science applied to historiography.

I’m likewise a fan of Vervaeke’s work. I was fascinated by his Awakening from the Meaning Crisis series, because it’s part history of civilization and part computer science, and at different times in my life, I majored in each of those! The only fault I could find in Awakening from the Meaning Crisis is the historical narrative could be cleaned up quite a bit. (Here is a recent Forum thread involving John Vervaeke and @rufuspollock : Second Renaissance Research Subgroup: What is the Second Renaissance - #22 by RobertBunge)

Jordan Petersen, by contrast, is not someone who attracts me much. There is an element of dogmatism in Petersen that just does not work for me. I sympathize with his notions that men should be men and that there are elements in traditional theology that are worth recovering. But Petersen’s synthesis strikes me as entirely too polemical - and most damning from a Christian standpoint - lacking in the most essential qualities that made Jesus Jesus. If we are going to recover Christian tradition in the name of civilization, let’s go all the way back and try that on for size!
